Be Still
Posted on May 19th, 2004 2 commentsPsalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earthNicole and I are in a bible study group with my boss, Jim Fleming and a number of other (older) couples from our new church, Countryside Covenant in Sherwood, OR. We are going through a six-week discussion through a “Doing Life Together workbook. The above verse is this week’s memory assignment.
I have always wanted to commit to memorizing bible verses. Shamefully, I currently know very few, but last week I memorized Luke 10:41-42:
“Martha, Martha the Lord Answered, “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken from her.Anyway,…
I have always had difficulty being still. My mind races, my body twitches, I have lots to do. Sometimes, I feel like I will never be caught up. Often, I’m a stress case.
The Idea of being still and meditating on Him appeals to me. I have really enjoyed the times when I forced myself to just sit and relax. I take deep breaths, ask the Holy Spirit to envelop me “Like a cloud and relaxingly listen – Listen for what God may have for me. I thrive on it – it’s one of the best things a stress case can do.
